FORWARD-THI-NKING Bromsgrove residents are invited to attend a series of public meetings to discuss the future shape of local government in the district.

Councillors and off-icers from Bromsgrove District Council will be visiting various venues this month to highlight the options available to the authority to update its decision-making process.

Bromsgrove, along with other councils, has to change the way it works and choose one of four Government-backed opti-ons.

These include either an elected mayor and cabinet, an elected mayor and council manager, a leader and cabinet or a new committee system.

The council's corporate director, Bob Lewis, said: "This is the greatest shake-up facing local government for more than 100 years.

"It is important we know what residents would prefer."

Meetings, which all start at 6.30pm, have been scheduled for Thursday May 10, at Rubery Youth and Community Centre, in New Road, Rubery; Monday May 14, at Hagley Community Centre, in Worcester Road, Hagley; Thursday May 17, at Park Hall, in Silver Street, Wythall, and Monday May 12, in the Committee Room, at The Council House, in Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove.
