A HANDFUL of Worcestershire firms will be showcasing their work next month at the BBC Good Homes Show.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend this year's event at the NEC in Birmingham.

The show features a host of homes and ideas, TV personalities and the opportunity to find new ways of improving and creating a new look for the home - both inside and out.

DIY workshops will be held throughout the show where visitors can learn the tricks of the trade from the BBC Good Homes Show experts.

Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Linda Barker and Andy Kane will be on hand with interior design tips while Tommy Welsh will be providing inspirational and practical garden ideas.

Hilary Harrison, of Wichenford, near Martley, will be exhibiting her new rug design business at the prestigious event.

Until recently, Mrs Harrison, who works from her home and is inspired by the local countryside, has been selling designs for carpets to other manufacturers.

She has now decided to launch a contemporary rug design and supply service, as well as selling products from a small stock.

"I'm really excited about the Good Homes Show as it will be a showcase for my work and my first rug exhibition," she said.

The mum-of-four has been on a quest to find manufacturers to supply the wool to make top quality rugs.

Brintons Carpets will also be exhibiting at the show, which runs from Wednesday to Sunday, May 9 to 13. The firm will display its new range, The National Trust Collection.

The Kidderminster company will also be offering visitors the chance to win a room make-over, valued at £5,000.

Malvern Hills Furniture will be showing its handcrafted doors and kitchens, all reflecting traditional designs.

Worcestershire firm Euroheat will be exhibiting around 10 of its stoves.

The firm, which has been in operation for the last 18 years, feels it is important to attend events like the BBC Good Homes Show, to keep in touch with the market trends.
