A DISTRAUGHT Redditch father whose son was left paralysed after a heroin overdose has spoken of his constant battle to keep the boy's brother away from drugs.

Trevor Woods' 24-year-old son spent four days in a coma four years ago and needs round-the-clock nursing care in Worcester.

But Mr Woods said his misery was continuing with his youngest son, who began taking soft drugs but stopped five months ago.

The 18-year-old was targeted by dealers on his way home from school more than a year ago. They offered him drugs for free on the understanding he would pay later.

Despite handing over hundreds of pounds, the son is still being hounded by pushers, who have forced him to become a prisoner in his own home.

"My son has not been out of the house alone since June for fear of his life. He's petrified - it's no way a young lad should live," said Mr Woods.

Mr Woods said he knew of other families in similar situations.

"I know I'm not the only one on the estate who has called the police because of drugs.

"I just wish a few more parents would come forward," he added.

Sgt Terry Shutt, of Redditch police, said: "We are treating this matter very seriously.

"I will be in personal contact with the family and what we would hope to do is to identify the drug dealers in order that we can stop the problems."
