SARAH's gift of sight to thousands of children in Romania is still going strong, thanks to the generosity of Wyre Forest folk.
This week a 15-tonne cargo of eye equipment, toys, clothing, foods and toiletries, is being shipped to abandoned children in the city of Oradea.
The Sunshine Appeal, in memory of the fun-loving youngster, has raised £12,000 to provide eye tests, glasses and other equipment for an eyecare clinic for abandoned children.
Her father Mike, who owns an opticians in Bromsgrove, has set up the clinic at the Cammul Felix orphanage in Oradea.
He has been overwhelmed by the generosity of district folk, who have donated in their thousands.
He said: "We are so grateful for all the help we have received - people have been so generous. It is incredible to think we are shipping out 15 tonnes of stuff this week."
Mr Hampton will visit Romania in July with trust co-ordinator Ian Robinson, also of Hamptons Opticians, to assess the scheme and give much-needed eye tests to hundreds of children.
He said: "We want people to know this is ongoing. It is a life commitment for us.
"It is something positive to have come out of Sarah's death. We just want to do our bit to help others."
