MAY Day! May Day! Intrepid Shuttle/Times and News reporter Alex Day is getting that sinking feeling as he steels himself for a sponsored abseil later this month.
Alex, 20, ended up with more than just another story after he spoke to organisers of the Kemp Hospice Abseil Challenge recently.
The Shuttle's own action man - who claims to be looking forward to his first abseil - was invited to join a group of volunteers who will be descending the 80ft face of Blackstone Rock in Bewdley, on Sunday, May 20, in aid of Kemp Hospice.
Organisers are hoping up to 90 people will take part in the event which is being run with the help of the 2nd Kidderminster St Barnabas Scout Group. Fully qualified instructors from the Scout group will be on hand on the day to guide volunteers down.
Participants must be aged eight or over and admission is £10 including insurance. Further information is available from the Kemp Appeal Office on 01562 865105.
Kemp Hospice provides day care, home care, counselling and education for people with life-threatening illnesses, and their families.
