FOUR young musicians from Prince Henry's High School, Evesham, played their way to The Wychavon Young Musician of 2001 title at the town's Arts Centre.
The four - Sarah Archer, aged 16, Hannah Davies, 15, Jenny Wood, 13, and David Stupple, 18 - are the Prince Henry's Trumpet Quartet.
Their award closely follows a major success as Open Brass Section winners in the Worcester Competitive Festival.
The Wychavon Young Musician of 2001 was Jonathan Cairns, aged 13, of Kempsey, a cellist, whose performance of Sonata in E minor op 38 by Brahms won the title.
The adjudicators were Nicholas Salwey, Beverley Juggins and Chris Stowell and in congratulating all the finalists on a "superb concert," Mr Salwey said: "We have had a very difficult time selecting the winners."
The competition was organised by Evesham and District Music Club in conjunction with Wychavon District Council and John Martin's Charity.
