I would like to point out that all Pershore Sports Club members do not share the desire for the club to move to an alternative site, which could have been interpreted from Peter Corbishley's letter.

In fact, at the recent EGM, the vote was unanimous to stay at The Bottoms in preference to the College site.

As a member of the squash and hockey sections my personal view is that the long-term future of these sections at Pershore is best served by staying in the centre of town. I am not alone is having this view. For hockey, an astroturf pitch at Pershore High School would be preferred to one at the College because youngsters can come through from school hockey to club hockey and have the huge advantage of being able to walk to the club.

An application is being prepared with the Football Foundation to provide funding for a full size astroturf pitch at the school which could be used for hockey at weekends. Should this be successful then the hockey section will have its future secured.

The benefits to squash of re-locating to the College are minimal, since we already have excellent court and bar facilities at The Bottoms.

Having gone through some difficult years, squash has picked up since the Wychavon facilities have closed. It is debatable whether a move out of town to new courts would help. I understand the difficulties that the tennis section has as they attempt to expand, but the route forward is not necessarily to re-locate the entire club.
