LEADING scorer Lee Booth is giving Stourport Swifts every chance of catching Barwell and Rushall in the Midland Alliance championship chase.

The striker just cannot stop scoring and another two goals in a 3-0 home win over Boldmere on Saturday kept them in the hunt for the title.

Swifts' top scorer, who is still on track for the league golden boot, broke the deadlock on the half-hour, heading home a far-post cross from strike partner Paul Moore.

Simon Marsh then failed to find the target from the edge of the six-yard area after Jan Mulders headed back a set-piece from Lea Shaw.

But Moore put Swifts two-up by half-time with a simple tap-in after sterling work from Alex Cowley.

Early in the second half, Booth was denied by the post but he soon made amends to complete the scoring on 65 minutes.

Matt Southwick flicked on Moore's cross for Cowley to force a parried save from keeper Jim Arnold.

The rebound fell to Booth just outside the area and he rifled the ball into the bottom corner.

Assistant boss Gary Whild said: "It was a tricky game and we did a thoroughly professional job."

Swifts are now without suspended midfielder Lea Shaw for a week. Centre-back Mark Dearlove's knee injury has ended his season.

Bridgnorth Town 3 Swifts 2

Ten-man Swifts missed out on a piece of silverware as they fell 4-2 on aggregate to Bridgnorth in the Davis League Cup semi-finals.

Despite Booth adding to his huge goal tally with a double strike, the Shropshire side built on their 1-0 victory achieved at Walshes Meadow two weeks earlier.

Last Thursday, striker Booth got Swifts off to a perfect start on six minutes after pouncing on a weak back-header.

Kevin Thompson levelled the scores five minutes before the break and an Ian Perry header put Bridgnorth 2-1 ahead on the night.

Swifts hit back with Booth's penalty on the hour but Steve Ulfig was then sent off for foul and abusive language.

And Carl Bradley blasted home Bridgnorth's third goal to book them a final date with Stourbridge.
