A SUPERB Steve Mares volley 10 minutes from time put Bewdley back into winning ways when they took the honours 2-1 in a Banks's Brewery Division One South fixture at Bustleholme.
The hosts went ahead after 25 minute when keeper Adrian Hipkins misjudged a shot and the ball floated over him and into the net.
Bewdley picked up their game and played some of their best football for some time.
They were rewarded five minutes from the break when a Gary Middleton free-kick was finished off by Grant Gibbs.
The second half began with Bewdley in control but they were indebted to Hipkins for two excellent saves.
Then substitute Neil Turford, with his first touch of the game, set up Mares to score the winner.
Bewdley have five matches remaining to try to overcome promotion rivals Ledbury, Brintons and Chaddesley Corbett.
Fixture, Saturday: Bewdley Town v Malvern Town Reserves (kick-off 3pm - players to meet at the ground at 1.45pm).
Squad: Hipkins, Jones, Lawley, Ford, Harris, Middleton, Smith, Gallagher-Kennett, Hardiman, Field, Gibbs, Mares, Turford, Newton, Allsopp, Osborne, Stewart, Newman, Thompson, Freeman.
