Drakes Broughton: George Yates, a labourer of Drakes Broughton, was summoned for discharging stones from a catapult at Broughton on April 6. He pleaded guilty. PC Smith said on the date mentioned he was on duty on Wadborough Road when a stone "whizzed" by him about a yard from his face. Defendant tried to run away, but was caught and reported. He was fined 1s and 7s 6d costs.

Evesham: A pretty spectacle in Evesham was observed at St. Mary's (RC) Church on Sunday evening when a May procession consisting of school children, acolytes, cross-bearer, servers, girls dressed in white dresses and wreaths and flowers, and the children of Mary, with the Rev. Father J.H. Bamford took place. The procession wended its way from the north to the south door, entering the church for the service, which included the Rosary, the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and a sermon from the Rev. Father Bamford.

Evesham: 'How the police forces came into being' was the subject of an interesting talk given to the Vale of Evesham Round Table on Tuesday, by ex-Supt E J Price. In absence of Chairman Tabler H King, the night was presided over by tabler K Lymm.

Evesham: A new 800-line electronic telephone exchange will be opened at Harvington next Thursday, and the 650 customers on the present exchange will be transferred to the new one. All the telephone numbers will change from the present three figures to Evesham six figure numbers- the majority by prefixing the old numbers with 870.
