FLOWER CLUB: Twenty six members enjoyed an excellent flower arranging demonstration given by trainee demonstrator Chris Goldsmith, entitled 'Escape', at the club's April meeting. Designs included an 'Escape to Italy', 'A Stately Home', 'A floral hat for a day at the races' and 'Seaside and driftwood'. Giving the vote of thanks, Judith Stanton congratulated Chris Goldsmith for a very enjoyable floral display.
MU: Members of St Peter's branch of the MU were privileged to hear Mrs Betty Fraser speak about her holiday in the Holy Land. The talk was illustrated with photographs and maps and held members spellbound. Mrs Vera George gave the vote of thanks and presented the speaker with some garden plants.
CIVIL SERVICE RETIREMENT FELLOWSHIP: The Wellesbourne group of the fellowship held their annual bring and buy sale at the April meeting, which raised £60 for group funds. After the sale, members were treated to a talk about the art of wood turning and an impressive display of unusual hand crafted walking sticks by Mr W F Hemming. The meeting ended with the customary raffle. The next meeting will be on June 17 at 2pm at HRI Sports and Social Club, when the speaker will be Sheila Bedford from Alveston Lays, at 3pm the Wellesbourne group will be host to this year's Warwickshire branch AGM. Don't forget the Wellesbourne Art and Craft Exhibition on May 5 to 7 in St Peter's Church Centre from 10am to 6pm.
