WORCESTERSHIRE Saints are hoping for a winning start to their new season in the Rugby League Conference when they take on the Wolverhampton Wizards at Castle Field tomorrow (2.30).
The Wizards were bottom of the league last season, winning only one match, so Saints will certainly start as favourites having completed the double over them last year.
They achieved a further success against Wolverhampton with a 34-0 victory in a pre-season friendly in early April.
Player-coach Jason Spafford is optimistic that the Saints can improve this year.
Saints are now placed in the new-look Central South Division which promises to be one of the most competitive of the six divisions that make up the Conference. They are looking for a positive victory to set things off after struggling in previous campaigns.
The squad is expected to be at full strength with a number of new faces joining the likes of Spafford and last season's top scorer Richard Whitehouse.
