DESPITE the uncertainty of the weather last weekend the Worcester Nomads continued to play cricket on their vastly improved facilities at Bransford.
Away matches at Bewdley and Stanway were called off because of the soft conditions but the home fixtures with Bewdley and Hatherley and Reddings were played.
On Saturday in the Worcestershire Clubs' League division one Bewdley 1st X1 had an enjoyable afternoon scoring 245-4 in the allotted 50 overs. Only Ian Jinks( 3-53) and Andrew Prickett (1-63) took wickets and unless Nomads can strengthen their bowling it will be a very tough season for the fielders. Smith with 143no was given good support by Bennett (55).
In reply Nomads gave a good initial response with a 40-run partnership between Kieron Rees (56) and Malcolm Jones (28) but then started losing wickets and finished with a losing draw with only Andy Leach (42no) and Danny Rees (21) offering any resistance.
On Sunday a young side from Hatherley near Cheltenham proved far too strong for the Nomads mixed team. Hatherley reached 190-5 and in reply Nomads could only reach 134 with the last pair at the wicket. For Nomads Kieron Rees (27) and Stefan Rees (28no) top scored with support from Anton Madzarevic (25).
