MALVERN Fringe Arts will be presenting a contemporary and folk music event at The Grove on Sunday (May 6) featuring Elizabeth Ryder and Friends.
The gig is to showcase Elizabeth's new CD, Sacramento Orange, a blend of folk and contemporary styles including songs composed by Elizabeth.
She was introduced to medieval music at an early age by her father and she took her first piano lessons when she was five. She later expressed an interest in folk-related music and in 1998 she won a composition competition entered through school.
Since then she has written for theatre productions and a range of other projects, including one with the Birmingham Rep.
Now living in Worcester, the 20-year-old is taking a year out between college and a place at University College Dublin to establish herself as an artist in the world of folk and contemporary music.
Supporting her at the gig will be her father, Phil Ryder, a singer, pipe and tabor player, actor and storyteller, and Leon Shearer, the current British Celtic Fingerstyle Guitar Champion.
The event begins at 8pm and admission is £2.
