ALVECHURCH manager Mick Preece gave ten players their debuts as a blow-strength side piled the misery on relegation-haunted Southam with a 2-0 win.

Striker Michael Campbell, who claimed the first, was the only recognised first teamer in the starting lineup as Preece rested his stars before Saturday's Challenge Cup semi final against Nuneaton Griffs.

Second string midfielder James Burke was the only other player with first team experience.

Adrian Walker, Michael Stewart, Darren Price and Stuart Rhodes all made first team debuts in defence along with midfielders Anthony Savery, Adam Guest and Robert Brassington and striker Mark Keys.

Experienced left back Robert Powell continued his comeback from a hamstring injury by coming off the bench to claim the second and youth team forward Aaron Pedley also took a first team bow.

Goalkeeper Paul Hammond played the first two minutes before returning to work, thus making him eligible for Saturday.

Reserve keeper Danny Lewis replaced him for the remainder.

A Feckenham team shorn of six regulars by injury and suspension drew 1-1 at Northfield Town after an Andy Underwood strike.

Three Sunday league recruits made their debuts with Micky Hallett at sweeper, James Surman in midfield and Richrad Cresswell up front.

Manager Clive Campion expects to return to strength apart from suspended defenders Dean Hadley and Mark Cund for the derby visit of league leaders Studley on Monday (ko 7.30pm).
