THIS was the highest score the West had recorded in the last two years and it was a personal triumph for Will Hardy who scored five goals but the game was marred by five sendings off, three for Langlands and two for West Malvern.

WEST MALVERN 11, LANGLAND SPORTS 3

The game opened with the West taking the lead within thirty seconds from the kick off. The ball was played to Ken McEwan whose cross completely deceived the Langlands keeper and centre half and Andy Hurrell playing his first game for three months scored from two yards. Within five minutes the West were two up when a shot from Lee Tracey trickled through the goal keepers hands. Within 15 minutes the score became three when Will Hardy scored his first goal.

Langlands reduce the arrears but the West went further ahead when Raphell Lagaye scored from close range. Ken McEwan then had the rare distinction of scoring with a header from a cross by Ian Treadgood.

Being 5-1 down at half time Langlands changed their goalkeeper. The West went further ahead when Will Hardy scored again. Langlands then had a player sent off for a challenge on goalkeeper Steve Newman. Will Hardy scored again, number seven, and then Langlands made it 7-2 from the penalty spot.

The game went from bad to worse after Will Hardy scored his fourth goal and Lee Tracey scored number nine from the penalty spot, the ref promptly sent off the goal keeper for foul language. Raphell scored number ten and Will Hardy capped the day with number eleven. Langlands had a further player sent off and the game became a bit if a farce when two West Malvern players were sent off for retaliation.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the West are at home to Inkberrow Reserves, players meet 2pm at the dressing room.

West Malvern are sponsored by Amey Comax.
