DEVELOPERS have dubbed Bromsgrove "second to none" as a location for hi-tech industry as plans to create 250 jobs at a new multi-million pound business park get under way.
Work has already begun on the infrastructure for the £25m development in Stoke Heath which is designed to attract technology companies.
The first stage, to create new roads and sewers at the site in Stoke Road, began last Wednesday, May 9, at a cost of £1.5m after Bromsgrove District Council granted planning permission for the park.
Set in landscaped grounds, Buntsford Gate will be a mix of offices, warehouses and industrial properties from 5,000 to 100,000 square feet, with parking for 300 cars.
The site will be developed in stages with buildings being constructed as computer, science and engineering companies confirm their interest.
Agents for developers, Bett Properties and Maclan Developments, are currently in detailed negotiations with three firms and are encouraged by the response.
They are confident the park will be filled to capacity, and believe it will create 250 new jobs in the town over the next three years.
The business park will form part of the A38 technology corridor and will benefit from the work of regional development agency Advantage West Midlands to encourage investment in the area.
Maclan Developments managing director John Macpherson said Bromsgrove was an ideal location for hi-tech industries.
He added: "It has all the necessary qualities to attract technology-based companies to the site.
"The quality of the location, local amenities, communications, labour supply and attractive environment are second to none."
Bromsgrove District Council economic development officer Peter Michael welcomed the boost to jobs and business facilities in the town.
He said: "This is great news for business and employment opportunities in Bromsgrove.
"It also ties in well with regional plans for an A38 technology corridor."
