A YOUNG people's day aimed at understanding the health needs and aspirations of youngsters in Redditch is in the pipeline.
The day follows the success of an elderly person's day at the town hall, which was organised by a sub-group of Redditch Primary Care Group.
About 140 elderly residents attended the event and 90 per cent said health services in Redditch were good.
And the PCG is now exploring the viability of holding a similar event for young people later this year.
Redditch Council health liaison officer Jean Arrowsmith, who sits on the PCG group, said: "It is being debated at the moment.
"We are going to do something positive and active towards young people's health and one of the suggestions put forward is to have a young people's day."
The target age-range and specific aim of the day has yet to be defined but the group hopes to focus on middle school pupils to people in their early twenties.
Ms Arrowsmith said: "If there was a day it would probably be in November and it would include issues which affect young people, such as drugs, substance abuse, alcohol, sex, bullying, bereavement, family break-ups and careers."
Ms Arrowsmith said reaching young people could be a problem but ways to address it were being looked at.
She added: "We have to look at various ways we can reach young people so we can meet their health needs and we are still debating how best we can do that."
Abbey Stadium has been proposed as a location for the young people's day.
