FAIRFIELD entertained second placed Handsaker and, after a run of four successive defeats, Villa turned the tide with a 1-0 victory.
The game started in very hot conditions and it was the home side who did the early pressing.
The visitors had to thank 'keeper Matt Tucker for keeping them in the game, with him making three superb saves in the first 20 minutes. As the half progressed, the game became more even.
In the second half both sides cancelled each other out in midfield, and chances were limited. In the 82nd minute Villa scored the all important goal when Martin Tranter crossed to the far post for Ian Brown to pull the ball back to Junior McKeon, who scored from a very narrow angle.
In the remaining time, the visitors pressed hard for an equaliser but Villa's debutant 'keeper Stuart Freeman was in commanding form and he saw Villa through.
