AN independent movie-maker is looking for stars of the future to appear in an feature-length action movie set in and around Malvern.

Entitled The Beacon, the ultra low- budget film tells the story of a young woman who goes from working in an office to saving the world, when a gang of terrorists take over the Malvern Hills.

Writer-director Neil Oseman has already made two short films, Soul Searcher and Cow Trek, which will be showing at the Highgate Film Festival in July.

He hopes that his feature debut will be equally successful. "It's an extremely ambitious script, but I think we'll all have a lot of fun making it," he said.

Neil came up with the idea two years ago while working for the Ministry of Agriculture in Worcester. Since then, he has been gaining experience as a freelance community film-maker.

He plans to recoup The Beacon production costs by selling copies locally and via his website.

The film will draw on a range of talents from the area such as fight co-ordinator Simon Wyndham, who will choreograph martial arts sequences for the film.

"There's a lot of action in it," he said. "It's going to be very demanding physically and logistically."

Shooting is due to take place in Malvern and Hereford this summer.
