TOURISM in Droitwich Spa could receive a boost if ambitious plans to enhance the town's unique salt history go ahead.
Wychavon District Council's community safety partnership members were yesterday set to consider creating a brine heritage site, in Tower Hill.
The scheme is part of the town enhancements programme.
Wychavon wants to develop the £7,500 feature at a working brine well.
Plans would see the Tower Hill site adapted to provide two viewing areas for the public.
The scheme safeguards a cast iron pump and engines which are under threat of being removed from the district or destroyed.
The project will incorporate the Victorian-design mechanical brine pump and engines currently at Droitwich Spa High School, and replica ice age urns and specimens of rock and salt.
