FOUR members of Worcester Rugby Club's ladies team helped England to third place at the European Championships following a 34-26 victory over France.
Centre Karen Andrew, hooker Nicola Goodwin, number eight Jaine Lock and flanker Alex Pilkington all played a part in the 3rd/4th play off victory at Stade du Nord in Lille, France.
Andrew scored 19 points with a try, conversion and four penalties to help England overcome the reigning champions.
England had sent a development squad to the championships, containing just eight capped players.
Scotland beat Spain 15-3 in the final to take top honours for the first time.
Earlier in the competition, tries from Lock and Andrew helped England to a 29-15 win over Kazachstan and a guaranteed top four finish.
n Worcester Ladies ended their season in style, winning two tournaments across successive weekends.
The ladies gained top honours at the Nuneaton Old Edwardians Tens Tournament, winning the title for the third time.
The reigning champions entered a first and second team and both squads cruised through the group rounds without losing a game.
They faced each other in the semi finals before the first team went through to beat Lichfield in the final.
Worcester repeated this success at the Stoneygate Sevens tournament in Leicester, beating Saracens 19-0 in the final.
Worcester were unbeaten throughout the tournament and full back and Irish international Nicola Milne was also rewarded with the Player of the Tournament award.
n Eight members of Worcester Ladies Under 16 squad helped the West Midlands to win the RFUW Regional Tens Tournament at Lichfield.
Laura Bradford, Natalie Clifford, Katherine Harris, Pam James, Vicky Kovacs, Katherine Merchant, Alice Richardson and Sam Toms all helped the West Midlands to victory.
The team were coached by Worcester Under 16s coach Mark Edwards.
