A HEADTEACHER from Uganda will be spending two weeks in Redditch to look at how schools function and to take his findings back to his homeland.
John Mpozo-Lwanga is the headteacher of St Kizito Senior Secondary School (SSS) in Kabowo.
He was invited to come to Redditch and talk to staff and students by Fr Aloysius Bukenya, from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in Beoley Road West.
Fr Bukenya is also a student at Warwick University and invited Mr Mpozo-Lwanga over to England while carrying out research in Uganda.
The two men will be visiting St Stephen's and St Augustine's in Redditch, St Benedict's in Alcester, Warwick University and Birmingham University.
Mr Mpozo-Lwanga said there were a great many aspects of British and Ugandan education he was keen to compare.
He said: "Discipline is something which intrigues me.
"From what I know of this in Britain, children are given a great deal more liberty than children in my school.
"I want to see how British pupils react to this extra liberty.
"I will also be looking at how pastoral care is administered, this is something which is very important to me. I will also be looking at how the curriculum is taught.
"The only information I have about education in Britain is what I have read in the media and I am looking forward to taking a closer look at it at ground level."
