COUNCILLOR Ron Leek has been elected as Alcester's new deputy mayor.
Mr Leek will be joining new mayor Wendy Weatherhead to help lead the town council for the next year.
The two have already worked closely together after Mrs Weatherhead acted as an assistant scout leader when Mr Leek was leader.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Leek said: "I am obviously very pleased. All my interests are associated with what the council does as well as other organisations in the town such as the Civic Society."
