PRESIDENT Christine Dyer welcomed members to the May meeting.
The minutes of the April meeting were read and notices given of forthcoming events.
There followed a short talk by Lynda Barr, local representative of Fair Trade.
She told of this Christian initiative to assist Third World families and farmers by purchasing food and handicrafts at a fair price, through the Fair Trade Federation, for sale in the Western world.
During the refreshment break, members were able to purchase goods from an attractive and well-stocked display.
Then county organiser Rosemary Galilee gave members a talk about the two resolutions of social importance which will be presented to the National Federation in due course.
Thanks to her clear explanations of possible outcomes of for and against feelings about these matters, members were able to register their votes.
Rosemary went on to explain the proposed changes in the constitution of the federation and the views of members were individually recorded.
Joan Smith gave a vote of thanks for Rosemary's helpful talk.
The next meeting will be on June 6. New members are welcome.
