A NEW chairman and vice-chairman for Stoke Prior Parish Council have been elected, after the chairman of five years stood down.
Former vice-chairman Thelma Roll took the top job with the departure of Tony Friel, after she was elected at a meeting on Monday night.
A member of the parish council for most of the last 27 years, Cllr Roll won the vote, with Cllr Geoff Whitehouse also standing.
Cllr Jeannette Birmingham was elected unopposed to the role of vice-chairman.
The new chairman first joined the parish council in 1974 in order to improve Stoke Prior Recreation Ground.
Cllr Roll, a village resident for 40 years, is also chairman of the village hall and takes an active part in the life of St Michael's Church.
She said: "Stoke Prior is a lovely place to live in and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. But I want to see it tidied up to make it a cleaner place for folks to live in.
"It's not just down to the parish council -- the district council and the county council have let us down."
