MEMBERS of Stourport Rotary Club are gearing up for a mammoth series of summer events to raise funds to build a riverside bandstand for the town.
The Millennium Bandstand project is gathering pace and the group's community service members hope the final fund-raising spurt will help them reach their target of £20,000.
So far the club, in partnership with Wyre Forest District Council and Stourport Town Council, has raised £12,000 towards completing building work on the bandstand at Riverside Meadows.
The summer fun begins with a concert of brass band music at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, June 2.
The show will feature the award-winning Flowers Band, the current West of England champions, together with the Band of the West Mercia Constabulary, who will both be performing a selection of classic, show, pop and marching music.
The show starts at 7.30pm and further details are available by calling rotary club publicity officer Jim Perry on 01299 871406.
Next in the fund-raising line is a 'Fisharama' pools fishing contest at Stourport's Hawford Pools the following Wednesday at noon.
Anyone wishing to take part can reserve their peg by contacting rotarian Malcolm Sprawson on 01299 877784.
This is followed by the club's first ever charity golf day at Ombersley Golf Club on Friday, June 29, when Tiger Woods wannabes can play in pairs to raise cash for the cause.
Joyce Morris, at Charleton House, Hartlebury, DY11 7YE, has further details of the event, which invites golfers to tee-off between 9.30am-2.30pm.
Mr Perry said: "Planning permission has been given for the bandstand and everything is fully in gear for the project, we just need the final £8,000.
"However, we are confident with lots of people taking part in or watching the fund-raising events we can reach the £20,000 figure and bring back something which was taken away from Stourport years ago."
