SNOOKER: Eight century breaks were made at Pockets Club, Kidderminster, in the English snooker finals.
World U-21 champion Luke Fisher, of Skegby, the world U-21 champion, won the blue riband event, the English Amateur, beating London's Sunit Vaswani 8-4.
Fisher's win included two century breaks, 129 and 108. Vaswani could have made the event's highest break but he missed a simple pink on 126 in an enthralling battle.
Fellow Notts man Lee Spick obliterated top London player Kurt Maflin in the English Open 8-0.
Fisher and Spick team up to represent England in the IBSF world finals in Egypt in November, while Andrew Norman will also represent Great Britain.
Norman, of Bristol, won the U-21 event in style, beating international team-mate Ricky Walden, of north Wales, 8-4 with excellent breaks including 113 and 100. Walden also hit a century.
The world's youngest professional, Tom Ford, 17, crushed future star, Judd Trump, 11, of Bristol, 5-1 in the U-18 final with breaks of 91 and 120.
Ford recently won 10 matches in the Embassy World Championships to gain his pro status.
Outstanding young talent Trump, 11, won the U-15 event last year and already has a break of 134.
Ben Woollaston beat Alex Davies in the U-14s, making it the fifth successive year a Leicestershire player has reached an English final.
Earlier, Wyre Forest District Council chairman John Gordon opened the finals.
