A REPEAT of the previous week's cup final saw Norton Under-13s inflict a second defeat on Welland but this time the margin was far greater as Ran-gers chase a season's double.
They gave a championship style performance in amassing double figures and no need just five points from three games - one against sole rivals Newtown - to be assured of the crown.
Tristan Buckleigh set the trend with the opening goal after just 90 seconds but it proved a game of two keepers with Norton's Alex Gretton in fine form compared to his hapless counterpart.
Buckleigh added a second and Matthew Williams made it 3-0 before Welland hit back.
Seven goals followed after the break with Shane Turley (2), Oliver Worthington, Peter Marquis, Ashley Knight (2), James Muddiman all finding the scoresheet.
While Knight was on target last weekend, seven days earlier it was another Ashley - Wilkes - who scored twice in the cup final and was named player of the match.
In the same Mercian Elgar League section, Peopleton defeated Vale Youth 3-2 and then drew 1-1 at Evesham United after losing to the same side 3-0 earlier in the week.
Lea Miller, Luke Frankum and Andy Lamb scored against Vale, who replied through Brett Danby and Mark Bellamy, while Frankum levelled a first half effort from Michael Freemantle against United.
Joe Whittaker, Gareth Wolford and an own goal gave the Evesham side their earlier victory.
Evesham United are looking to attract quality 16-17-year-olds for next season.
The aim is to offer Under-17 and youth level football as part of the continual Youth Development Programme at Common Road.
An initial assessment day is planned at the ground for Saturday, June 2. Ring Alistair Hay on 01386 765392 or Brian Gregg on 01386 47887 after 7pm for more details.
