Littleton 4, Malvern Rangers 1
DUE to a combination of injuries, prior engagements and non appearance, Littleton were forced to make seven changes from the side that won the Baylis Cup.
This meant that the average age of the side went up to 33 years and four months but what they lacked in pace they made up with experience.
This was a particularly good win as a string of good results had seen Malvern Rangers move into second place.
Malvern looked the more dangerous early on and looked to have scored after 23 minutes when Rea tucked the ball past the keeper. The goal was disallowed, though, on the advice of the linesman.
Littleton then went close. Manager Andy Robbins hit an inch perfect centre to Tim Davies whose fierce volley flew just over the bar.
On the stroke of half time Littleton took the lead. From a Davies free kick, Neil Emms got the slightest of touches that proved enough to deflect it past the keeper.
Littleton scored again five minutes after the break when a fierce Darren Reeves shot was blocked by the keeper, who then saved the rebound by Steve Pitcher, but was helpless when Nick Stanley shot home from close-range.
Ten minutes later it was 3-0 when, following a good move, Philip Haines scored from 12 yards.
Malvern hit back when Simon Rea found the net from 18 yards and, for the next 20 minutes, they put on more pressure as their fitness told.
However, Littleton weathered the storm and increased their lead in the 90th minute when Pitcher drove home.
The match was sponsored by Willersey Provisions.
The double winners wind up their home matches on Saturday against Bishampton (3).
