A CYCLING charity fundraiser is hoping her latest money-spinning wheeze, hosting her own version of a popular TV quiz dressed as Anne Robinson, will ensure she will soon be saying, "goodbye," to Kidderminster. Kim Calder as Anne Robinson.
Kim Calder has so far raised just over a fifth of the £2,500 she needs to take her to Ecuador to participate in a 512-km cycle ride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief charity.
But the would-be quiz mistress will face a gruelling test of nerve and strength, with heat, high altitudes, steep climbs and camping rough in prospect.
The trek will take her through tropical rainforest, steamy jungle and up the Andes to a height of 3,300m.
Kim, 30, who works as a production assistant at MG Sportswear, Franchise Street, said: "I came across details of the challenge when I visited the Macmillan Cancer Relief website for a friend. Everyone I know seems to be touched by cancer at the moment.
"I've wanted to do a big event for charity for a long time and this just seemed right."
Kim's version of the Weakest Link, billed as the Weakest Wink, will be held at Cookley Sports and Social Club, Lea Lane, Cookley, on Saturday at 8pm.
Admission is £2, which admits entrance to a draw for a place as a contestant in the Weakest Wink, as well as participation in another quiz for everyone.
Kim, who is currently in training ready for the ride next February, said: "I am taking the role very seriously and have been practising hard abusing work colleagues, friends and family."
Anyone who wishes to sponsor Kim can telephone her at work on 01562 744735.
