SUNDAY'S early evening storms put paid to Alcester and Ragley's hopes of a second successive Cotswold Hills League win.
The home fixture, scheduled for 24 hours earlier, was switched to Twyning's ground because of continuing Foot and Mouth problems at Ragley Park, started in ideal conditions and Alcester were in the ascendancy having restricted their hosts to 75-3 off 30 overs when the rain arrived.
The club's second team recorded a satisfying win in their opening game at Henley.
Alcester made steady progress after the early loss of Phil Reader and it was left to Mark Greenway (49) and John Reader (29) to accumulate the best stand of the innings as a total of 180-6 was amassed.
Henley's reply was an assured but rather slow one and they paid for their early lethargy as they closed 16 runs short with Andrew Haines hitting them hard late on with a spell of 4-33.
