GARDEN CLUB: The April meeting was informed by the chairman coun David Roberts that the club had received the following donations for plants for the millennium garden - £75 from the Broadway Traders, £135 from the ladies choir as a result of a concert, and £65 from VEG (village events group). The speaker for the evening was Mr J Doidge on the subject 'A Garden from Scratch'. He is a retired civil engineer, who during his working career produced seven new gardens by reason of moving house. The competition for a primula was won by Pam Shaw, John Keylock was second whilst Shirley Gobourn was third. The next meeting will take place next Monday at the usual time and venue when the speaker will be Jenny Gilmour 'Gardens of India', competition branch of flowering shrub maximum length 18 inches.
CONSERVATIVE SKITTLE EVENING: Last Friday there was a well attended skittle evening at the Snowshill Arms. Coun David Folks assisted by Harry Norgrove organised the proceedings which included a 'killer' round. The branch chairperson Mrs Lesley Auden thanked the organisers for a pleasant and sociable evening.
