Vice-chairman Von Stewart reprised her programme of 1994 with Nuts in May Revisited.
There was William Ratcliff's Dream from the Mascagni opera, excerpts from Anna Bolena by Donizetti and The Rake's Progress by Stravinsky, both featuring Samuel Ramey, and Papillons by Schumann, who went insane.
Two Shakespearean "nuts" followed, Ophelia from Ambroise Thomas' Hamlet and Juliet from Gounod's version of Romeo and Juliette, and Von noted there were no dogs, it was not mid-day or sunny, but there were enough Englishmen to go mad with Noel Coward.
Patsy Cline's Crazy preceded A Te O Caro from I Puritani by Bellini, sung by Luciano Pavarotti. L'aprs Midi d'un Faune by Debussy represented the famously deranged dancer Nijinsky, then Mad Margaret from Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore was heard.
The evening ended with the only repeat item from the previous programme, the mad scene from Lucia di Lammermoor sung by Maria Callas.
