Diane Prichard, area demonstrator and trainee judge, was the May guest demonstrator.
She entertained with tales of the carnival in Venice, and entitled her arrangements Venetian Romance and Masquerade.
First was a crescent around a silver mask, with laurel, eucalyptus, arum leaves, pink and white carnations and cream chrysanthemums.
A copper pot was used with fatsia, berginia and mahonia leaves sprayed to match the pot, and stargazer lilies with pink carnations and a mask.
A masked figurine in black and a gondola represented the carnival with ferns, red roses, and two golden masks.
Next was a garden urn with stargazer lilies and pink carnations and a collar of ivy leaves.
Finally a piece of wood with a mask, and pieces of coral depicting the wings of the south wind.
On June 6 the competition is Venetian Romance and Masquerade, and Hazel West will demonstrate Floral Symphony, at St Mary's chantry, at 7.30pm.
