CASH-strapped ex-Owen Owen workers could be in line for a hardship grant.
Trustees of the former department store group, which had branches in Evesham and Kidderminster, are looking to trace personnel living in difficult circumstances who could be eligible.
"The founder, Mr Owen Owen, set up the No. 1 Trust in 1900 to help employees who might suffer hardship," said spokesman John Norman, Mr Owen's grandson and former group chairman.
Low income
"For the past 100 years it has continued to make a difference to people's lives by offering grants to help with everything from telephone line rental to major household items and funerals."
Generally, the grants are limited to those on a low income - £9,000 for single people and £11,000 for couples. They could even extend to dependants.
"It's the opportunity to give something in return to the loyal people who worked at some time for Owen Owen and now find themselves in need."
Anyone who thinks they might be eligible should contact 0845 113 0067.
