THE future of a hotly-debated piece of land in Worcester will be under discussion again on Monday.
A site development brief has been prepared ahead of a decision concerning the former sheltered housing site near the Tesco supermarket, in St Peter's.
Red Hill Baptist Church wants to build a church on the land, but is at loggerheads with St Peter's Parish Council.
The council insists the leisure needs of young people take priority and has called for a separate community centre on the two-acre site.
Meanwhile, Worcester City Council, which owns the land, has agreed in principle to split the site between the two.
A housing association would also build at least six homes there.
The development brief suggests a community centre would be put at the southern end of the wedge-shaped site, with housing sited at the north-eastern end and also possibly a Baptist church to the west.
"This draft has been produced to enable consultation to take place with the parish council, Red Hill Baptist Church and a housing association, together with the properties which adjoin the site," said Mark Middleton, the council's head of planning and economic development, who has prepared a report for Monday's meeting.
"It is strongly recommended that the future occupiers jointly commission an architect to carry out a full feasibility study."
He said the parish council was also sounding out opinion and the document would have to be re-jigged in light of any points raised by the parish council.
The executive board will debate the issue on Monday night.
The development and community services policy and review committees and the planning committee may also be asked for their views.
