VOLUNTEERS are needed to help ensure that children are able to maintain vital contact with both parents through the use of Worcester Child Contact Centre.
The Women's Royal Voluntary Service is particularly hoping to find young people aged over 18 to help out.
The Child Contact Centre provides a neutral space for children to meet with a parent or family member they might otherwise be unable to see due to a family break-up.
"If volunteers don't come forward, the service may have to be restricted and this would mean much-needed contact between a parent and child could be delayed," said Judy Crabb, WRVS senior community services manager.
"This would be an ideal opportunity for a group church, college or young persons group to take on a social action project.
"Volunteering at the child contact centre would be excellent experience for anyone wishing to pursue a social work or youth work career."
Volunteers are needed to welcome parents and children to the centre, ensure that the meetings run smoothly and provide refreshments.
The centre operates on alternate Saturdays from 1.30pm to 4.15pm and is based at Worcester Methodist Church Hall, in Pump Street
Volunteers able to give their services on a Saturday afternoon once a month, or fortnight, should contact Margaret Walker on 01905 28932.
