THE Women's Royal Voluntary Service is searching for volunteers to help serve snacks and refreshments to hospital staff, patients and visitors in its Worcester hospital shops.

WRVS has opportunities available at shops in Ronkswood and also Newtown.

"Just a few hours a week can make a tremendous difference," said Carolyn Whitmore, WRVS hospital services manager.

"Volunteering is also a great way to meet new people and learn new skills. One survey found that volunteering was the second greatest source of individual joy, behind dancing."

She said that "the time contributed to health and social service nationally by volunteers has been valued at around £7bn a year."

Any interested Newtown volunteers will be involved in serving refreshments, hot and cold snacks, as well as stocking up and clearing tables.

The Ronkswood WRVS shop sells a variety of items including flowers, cards and baby clothes.

Both shops are open seven days a week and will provide valuable experience for anyone seeking "to return to work" in retailing or students seeking to gain experience.
