A WILDLIFE rich area of meadow in Cleobury Mortimer is to be opened up to young people and local schools.
The Pioneer Centre in Cleobury Mortimer is working with conservation charity BTCV, the Parish Paths Partnership, Marches Woodland Initiative and Cleobury Mortimer Footpath Society to develop the site, which measures around a hectare, as an ecological resource.
Steve Robertshaw, centre operations manager, said: "We want to encourage access to this beautiful and ecologically diverse habitat by the young people who visit Pioneer Centre, including our young disabled guests and local schools. We hope it will become an area for quiet contemplation and retreat."
Proposals for the site, off the B4201, included the development of an area of grassland, wetland, and a pond.
Other proposals include tree planting, fencing, and the introduction of disabled friendly paths, benches and a hide.
Will Prestwood, of Arbor Vitae, added: "As the area has remained undeveloped and unimproved for so long it still retains examples of habitats and vegetation which have largely been lost from modern countryside."
