A WORCESTER school has made a big splash in regional swimming finals by chalking up victory against some of the best sporting schools in the Midlands.
Year six girls from Pitmaston Primary School in St John's torpedoed the efforts of more than 20 schools from across the region to triumph in the Bazooka National Primary School Championships in Bromsgrove's Dolphin Centre.
Team members, Gab-rielle and Dominique Allen, Tara Jury and Ruth Tattum, swam fastest in both the medley and free-style events at the event.
Celebrations were doubled when Pitmaston boys -- Craig Huxley, David Thompson, Elliot Langfield, Scott Langfield and Jake Saunders came tenth out of 25. Both teams now head to Sheffield for the national finals on June 16.
"They have done really well to get to a national final, it is a fantastic achievement," said head teacher Noel Pritchard.
"As a school we try to encourage their participation in a lot of sports and we have very dedicated staff who run a lot of extra curricular activities and if anyone shows any talent we push them towards local clubs."
