YOU can bet your last farthing that Geoff Wragg thinks his two have great chances in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury tomorrow.
The fact of the matter is that Wragg absolutely hates running two horses in the same race.
So for the ultra-shrewd Newmarket handler to make the decision to run both Danceabout and Swallow Flight in the £150,000 Group One contest, it can only mean that he anticipates a fine performance from both.
With race-fitness on his side, preference just goes to the latter.
Swallow Flight is a tough, consistent performer, who has failed to score at this level so far but still seems to be improving at the age of five.
He runs here as something of an afterthought after sluicing up in a Listed contest at Windsor on Monday night.
But he barely had to come off the bridle to see off his four rivals and that run proves both his fitness and current form.
Newbury has been hit by some prolonged spells of rain in the past few days and conditions could be on the testing side by the time the race gets under way.
But the mud holds no fears for Swallow Flight, indeed he has run some of his best races in it, and there appear to be very few chinks in his armour.
Of his rivals, Observatory is an obvious threat, having improved throughout last year.
However, there are question-marks over John Gosden's string at present and he may just need this outing.
Henry Cecil runs Sacred Song and Sandmason in the Grundon Recycle Stakes (Registered as the Aston Stakes) and preference is just for the former.
The lightly-raced daughter of Diesis has only seen the racecourse four times.
But she finished last season with victory in the Group Three Princess Royal Stakes at Newmarket and is still open to plenty of improvement.
Richard Hannon's National Park should take plenty of beating in the Woodgates Maiden Stakes.
The youngster ran on well on his debut at Warwick over five furlongs and is bred to appreciate the step up to six.
Canford appreciates a bit of cut and he could be the answer to the opening Tote Bookmakers Stakes (Showcase Handicap).
He battled on well over 10 furlongs last time and the extra two furlongs here will help.
