MALVERN Ramblers suffered a seven wicket League defeat at the hands of Brockhampton on Saturday.
MALVERN RAMBLERS 1ST XI v BROCKHAMPTON 1ST XI
Malvern started badly losing David Arnold in the first over for nought. Paul Young joined Mark Baugh and they repaired the innings with a fine stand of 62, Young in particular was in very fluent form with shots all round the wicket before he fell for 43 (7x4's).
There followed a middle order collapse with three wickets falling for no runs. Baugh and Neil Thompson effected a brief recovery before Baugh fell attempting to hit his fourth six of the innings.
Mark Hooper and Mark Mitchell hit out brightly for a last wicket stand of 22, but the total of 115 fell a long way short of what was needed. Rob Wargen again bowled well taking 7-47.
Brockhampton started brightly and had 40 runs on the board before a wicket fell. Thompson, Young and Rob Francis all bowled good spells but failed to cause the home side any discomfort and Brockhampton ran out easy winner by seven wickets.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Ramblers are at home to Cookley (2pm).
