A FIFTH generation pupil of Beethoven will be soloing at the next Chandos Symphony Orchestra concert on Sunday.
One of Britain's most respected pianists, Anthony Goldstone will play Brahms' Piano Concerto No 1. The concert will also feature Bruckner's Symphony No 4.
Born in Liverpool, Mr Goldstone trained at the Royal Manchester College of Music, which later honoured him with a fellowship with Professor Derrick Wyndham and later with Maria Curcio, making him a fifth generation pupil of Beethoven. Inspired by this legacy, he has always regarded the classical and romantic traditions as being at the heart of his repertoire. International prizes in Munich and Vienna and a Gulbenkian Fellowship launched him in a busy schedule of recitals and concertos.
Conducted by Michael Lloyd, The Chandos are playing at Malvern Theatres on Sunday (May 20) at 7.45. Tickets are £7 to £12, available from the box office on 01684 892277.
