LITTLE Drayton and Malvern Town, played out that something of a rarity, an entertaining goalless draw, at the Langland Stadium on Saturday.

MALVERN TOWN 0, LITTLE DRAYTON RANGERS 0

Malvern continued their remarkable run of drawn games, as this result saw them gain their fifteenth draw of this Banks Brewery League Premier Division season.

Town certainly started the brighter of the two sides and Adam Ward almost put them in front as early as the 6th minute when his superbly struck twenty yard drive was tipped over by the visiting 'keeper.

Town continued to press and the excellent running of Matt Upton and the guile of Phil Slade and Martin Phillpotts pressed the visitors back for long periods.

In the last fifteen minutes of the first half, Little Drayton eventually came more into the picture and went close on more than one occasion, but 17 year old Barry McClean in his first full game for Town was equal to anything Little Drayton could throw at him.

The second period was similar to the first, with Town enjoying most of the possession, but with the visitors always remaining dangerous on the break.

Town survived two scares, one came on the hour, when McClean came rushing out of his goal to clear a through ball, only to be deceived by a bad bounce and for the referee to adjudge that he had handled, referee James Cox, showed common sense and only issued a yellow card.

The resultant free kick passed harmlessly over the crossbar.

Two minutes later McClean was again called into action, when he saved with his legs to deny Drayton the lead.

Town though were unfortunate not to go ahead themselves, when an excellent 25 yard Matt Upton drive came back off the crossbar in the 66th minute and Adam Ward saw a header go narrowly wide after 70 minutes.

Town will not be too disappointed to have picked up a point against a side still harbouring hopes of a top 3 finish and still keeps Town on track for sixth place.

Town assistant manager Richard Anson said: "This sequence of draws is getting a little frustrating, as had we turned just half of them into wins, then we too could have looking at a top three finish."

Town: McClean, Dugdale, Damore (Cannon), Cotterill, Clayton, Higgins (Mogford), Ward, Davies, Phillpotts, Slade (Sollis), Upton.
