DRIVERS and motorcyclists will see their speeds flash before them as West Mercia police launches its bid to cut the number of road accidents in Worcestershire.
The force's new speed trailer, funded by the county council, will be set up at the side of roads to show bikers and drivers the speed limit - and the speed they are doing.
If drivers exceed the limit, the Speed Alert sign will flash the speed the vehicle is travelling. If not, the sign will show a steady display. "The number of road accidents caused by speeding drivers is high," said Chris Barski, Worcestershire County Council's accident studies manager.
"The council decided to fund the solar powered, speed activated sign to complement the on-going village speed initiative which is being implemented throughout the county."
Sgt John Roberts blamed "excessive and inappropriate" speeds as being a major cause of serious injury accidents in the county.
"We're working hard to reduce casualties," he added.
"The equipment will assist us in our aims to make roads in Worcestershire safer places for all."
