DESPITE making a tactical sacrifice to enable his team-mate Jamie Alberts to win, Jon Dayus still managed a fine sixth place in the Tour du pays d'Iroise, 18 seconds behind the winner.
Steve Dring was not quite able to extend his winning run in the Thursday evening series at Mallory Park when he finished second behind Matt Bottrill who broke away on his own to leave Dring to win the sprint for second place from his eight breakaway companions who had lapped the field.
John Callaghan continued his solid start to his open time trialling season with a time of 23.27 in the Royal Sutton event.
He finished 14th behind the winner Richard Bradley (Royal Suton CC) 21.14 and was fifth veteran.
The Tuesday evening 10 mile time trial was won in the fast time of 22.17 by Gavin Poupart.
He was followed by Chris McSweeney 23.07, Adrian Bird 23.27, Simon Ward 23.58, Richard Witherall 24.34, Mike Potter 25.14, Dave Walker 25.16, Alan Bennett 25.53 and Jon Starkey 26.04.
The first veteran was Pete Jansen 24.35 pursued by Martin Staines 24.59, Brian Lee 25.36, Rob Finch 25.56 and Les Bailey 26.02
First lady was Sarah Emerson 26.16, followed by Gail Flanaghan 29.14.
Leading junior was visitor Tom Brazier 23.30 and first juvenile Alex Band 28.36.
