A WOMAN from Worcestershire has been selected to take part in a study of the temple monkeys in Sri Lanka.
Janet Hopkins from Doddenham, near Broadwas-on-Teme, will be taking part in the scientific research after winning an Earthwatch Millennium Award.
She will be travelling out to Sri Lanka this summer to work on a project which aims to document the macaque society in a bid to understand primate social evolution.
"I am delighted to have won an award because I will be part of a multicultural team supporting scientific field research," she said.
Behaviour
"I am keen to learn more about the behaviour of temple monkeys and plan on my return to publicise the work of Earthwatch by giving talks about my experience to community groups," she said.
Over the next three years the Earthwatch Millennium programme will bring opportunities for 400 people aged 50 and over from all over Britain.
