AN ELMLEY Castle man has received one of the highest possible accolades in Freemasonry.
At last month's annual investiture meeting of Grand Lodge, held at the Freemason's Hall in London, Tim Jewell, aged 66, was awarded the rank of 'Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies'.
Mr Jewell was one of 600 masons from around the world who received an appointment to 'Grand Rank' from the Pro Grand Master the Marquis of Northampton. He said: "I never thought when I joined 42 years ago that I would one day experience the thrill of such a wonderful occasion."
l Gloucestershire masons recently made donations totalling £45,000 to charity. The money was divided between a play centre near Cheltenham, Meningitis research and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Fund.
