A SCHOOLGIRL is fighting for her life after a collision with a car on a busy Worcestershire road.
Thirteen-year-old Stephanie Mace and a friend were crossing the Pershore Road in Evesham when they were involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf at around 4.40pm yesterday.
Stephanie, a pupil at St Egwin's CE Middle School, was rushed to Ronkswood A&E with serious head injuries before being transferred to the ITU at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Hospital staff described her condition this morning as critical but stable.
Stephanie's friend suffered minor leg and arm injuries. She was taken to Avonside Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
A third local 13-year-old, who was not involved in the collision, was also taken to Avonside to be treated for shock.
The accident happened close to the Evesham Service Station. Garage owner Tariq Mahmood said he had given police CCTV footage in the hope of helping them with their inquiries.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them on 01905 723888.
